Heavy Hittin' Bodybuilding Plan Week 2

Posted by VPX Sports on Oct 9, 2014 1:04:00 PM

Last week, for Week 1, I had you go “Heavy” with 5 circuits 5-10 reps but this week I want you to use “Medium” Weights, aim for 4 circuits of 10-15 reps! Your goal should be to be getting muscle pumping burn about 65-75% of the way through each set and barely be able to get a 15th rep because of muscle bursting pumps! Using medium weights will trick the muscles, since they are expecting heavy weights like last week, and you will crush this workout with some serious intensity!

Fast 5 - a Super Peptide Powerhouse

Posted by VPX Sports on Jul 27, 2014 10:19:00 AM

Fast 5 is one of my favorite supplements to use intra-workout, not only because of its amazing taste (Blue Razz), but because it supplies the correct ratio of BCAA’s needed to retain muscle mass! The second most abundant amino acids found in muscle tissue (the 1st being glutamine) are Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine. They make up approximately 33% of all muscle tissue. During exercise, BCAA's are broken down and used for energy. Because they are so easily broken down and your body cannot produce them on its own, supplementation is needed to sustain sufficient amounts in your blood stream. If the amount of BCAA’s flowing through your body becomes depleted and not available during exercise, your body may turn to your muscle tissue for fuel (known as gluconeogenesis). We want to avoid this at all costs! So the million dollar question is: how do we maintain a high level of BCAA’s during exercise to prevent this muscle catabolism? The answer is to over saturate your body with BCAA’s through SUPPLEMENTATION. By maintaining optimal levels of BCAA's through supplementation, you can protect muscle tissue, thus maximizing muscle growth!

Posted by Team Xtreme on Sep 16, 2013 9:01:00 AM

Almost all of us at one time in our life have had an ankle sprain.  In fact, according to American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 25,000 people sprain their ankle each day!  Although most ankle sprains are commonly self-diagnosed, if not treated properly, they can lead to repetitive ankle sprains causing further damage and chronic ankle instability.

Think Before You Drink…

Posted by VPX Sports on Aug 5, 2013 9:02:00 AM

We all know post-exercise re-feeding is crucial to reap the benefits of training, particularly high-intensity exercise. In a recent study conducted by Lynch et al. (2012), VPX Protein Rush® was compared to an isocaloric “ade” (iCHO) on performance indices following high-intensity resistance training (HIRT..pun intended!).  The goal was to determine which macronutrient drink supported repeated performance. Fifteen healthy, 21-44 year old male subjects performed a 15-18 minute HIRT workout then immediately drank either VPX or iCHO. Following a two hour fast, the subjects performed an agility T-test, push-up test, 40-yard sprint, and reported rate of perceived exertion.  After a one-week washout the subjects repeated the protocol with the opposite treatment (they acted as their own controls). While controlling for caloric intake and energy expenditure, it was found that VPX produced a significantly (p < .01) larger interaction effect between the performance tests following glycogen depleting exercise compared to iCHO. The RPE effects were similar between the two drinks.

3 months on the VPX NO-Shotgun/Synthesize Stack

Posted by John Romano on Apr 26, 2011 2:13:00 PM

It has been three months since l began the NO-Shotgun/ Synthesize stack (NO-Shotgun pre workout, Synthesize immediately after). Wile I've been stetting PRs (personal records) continuously during this last three months, last week I set three PRs and this week l already broke one of them (it's only Tuesday). The only thing different about my diet/nutrition/supplementation during the last three months is the addition of the NO-Shotgun/Synthesize stack.

How much protein can the body digest?

Posted by VPX Sports on Apr 25, 2011 11:28:00 AM

We all know that we need protein to build muscle, which is what we are all about here at VPX.  The question is - how much protein is too much protein?  There’s been numerous studies looking at this one particular topic, but our aim here is to be efficient at the amount that we take in and not waste those expensive protein powders/shakes if we don’t have to.

There are many types of protein, but in this write up, we’ll look at the main two so you can get a basic understanding.  None of these proteins are better than the other, but they do have their benefits in their own specific way.
